SEAT Mii goes on sale in Irish market prices from €9,895
7th August 2012 - SEAT Ireland has released the new SEAT Mii on to the Irish market. The new car will mark a welcome return of the Spanish car brand to the city car segment where it had previously enjoyed success with the SEAT Arosa. The new car forms part of an exciting new product offensive, backed by a €20m investment in the brand in Ireland.
The Mii is available initially as a 3-door offering, but this will soon be followed by a 5-door, powered by a lively 1.0-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine putting out 75bhp. This lightweight and frugal engine sits in the lowest tax band in Ireland, Band A with emissions of just 108g/km and therefore also commands the lowest tax rate of just €160 per year. The fuel economy figures are also remarkably impressive, returning 4.7 l/100km on the combined cycle.
The Mii is a stylish and sporty car, with every element of the design geared towards maximising interior space. If offers the longest wheelbase in the class, but with short overhangs front and rear it means it is simple to negotiate city traffic in the Mii and incredibly easy to park.
In terms of styling, the car features the now familiar Arrow Design at the front end. At the back, the indicators ‘point’ in the direction of the turn, while the long doors allow for very easy access to the surprisingly spacious rear accommodation. The Mii comes with a 5-star EuroNCAP rating and safety features include driver and passenger head-chest airbags as standard.
The Mii starts at €9,895 and comes in three trim levels, the Mii, CHIC and SPORT. All cars get high levels of safety equipment including ESC with Hill hold, driver and passenger airbag, passenger airbag deactivation and ISOFIX points for the rear seats. All cars also get a Radio CD player with Aux-in functionality which allows MP3 players to be used in the car.
Step up to the CHIC spec which costs €11,350 and the car gains front fog lights, 14” “Silva” alloy wheels, electric and heated door mirrors, front electric windows, remote central locking, leather steering wheel and gear stick, height adjustable driver’s seat, split folding rear seat and an additional four speakers for the audio system. There is also specific CHIC trim and upholstery with chrome trim elements and a white dashboard. At the top of the range, priced at €11,550 is the SPORT model which gains tinted rear windows, front and rear sports suspension and shock absorbers and there is specific SPORT trim and upholstery, dark trim elements and a grey dashboard. On the exterior there are 15” “Ania” alloy wheels.
Available as a low cost option, priced at just €347 is the SEAT Touch, which is a 5” Touch Screen which adds Bluetooth connectivity, satellite navigation and an on-board computer. It is placed on the dashboard so that the driver can see it comfortably and with a slot for SD cards it can also play MP3 files or even display images. It can also be used outside of the vehicle and is fully portable. However for buyers of the Mii in 2012 the SEAT Touch will be offered free of charge.
Another low-cost option at just €216 is the Safety Assist system, which utilises a sensor placed on the upper part of the windscreen which uses laser to scan for vehicles as far as 10 metres ahead. At speeds of up to 30 km/h the system can detect if a collision is imminent and will either activate the brake system on its own or help the driver to apply maximum braking force.
The 5-door Mii will cost an additional €470 across the range and automatic transmission will also be available for an additional €750. There are also a range of attractive finance offers available for the Mii through Volkswagen Bank.
