Partnership with Onsi delivers vital accident, sickness, and compassionate and parental leave coverage
Freenow by Lyft, Ireland’s No. 1 taxi app, has announced a new partnership with Onsi, a leading workplace rewards and benefits platform, to provide loyal active taxi drivers across Ireland with access to accident and sickness insurance, compassionate and parental leave, and a range of everyday savings.
The initiative is designed to support the thousands of self-employed taxi drivers using the Freenow platform by providing additional financial security and practical support for drivers and their families.
Through the partnership, loyal active drivers will have access to:
- Accident and illness insurance (including accidental death and permanent disablement) – this insurance cover offers financial protection to taxi drivers in case of accident or illness.
- Compassionate & parental leave – this will provide drivers with a lump sum to cover time off if they welcome a new family member or lose a loved one.
- Food and fuel discounts – all taxi drivers will access discounts on food and groceries, fuel and other items such as technology and utilities at well-known retailers.
Through Onsi Protect, Freenow loyal taxi drivers can access lost income support of up to €100 per day for up to four weeks in case of accidents or illness, as well as cover for medical expenses, hospital stays and qualifying family leave events. Drivers will also gain access to Onsi’s rewards programme, which offers discounts on a range of everyday expenses, including fuel and car washes.
Danny O’Gorman, General Manager of Freenow by Lyft Ireland, said: “The wellbeing of our driver partners is a top priority at Freenow by Lyft. We are continually looking for ways to provide meaningful support, and we are delighted to offer access to accident and sickness insurance, alongside compassionate and parental leave through our partnership with Onsi.
“Taxi drivers are the backbone of our platform, and these benefits are designed to provide additional peace of mind for drivers and their families. This partnership reflects our ongoing commitment to putting drivers at the heart of everything we do.”
Ben Phillips, Head of Commercial at Onsi, said: “We are proud to bring our partnership with Freenow by Lyft to Ireland and to help provide taxi drivers with meaningful, practical benefits that support them both professionally and personally. Together, we are helping to give drivers greater financial security and peace of mind when they need it most.”
