Build Your Dreams, aka BYD, the relatively new Chinese high-tech industrial corporation that is creating quite a stir across the automotive world, has concluded 2023 with record-breaking sales volume, surpassing three million annual sales and retaining its the global new energy vehicle (NEV) sales leader title. In the Chinese market, BYD retained its position as the best-selling car brand and manufacturer.

For the first time, BYD featured in the 20th Autostyle 2023 XX Edition + Design event at Villa Schiarino Lena, Mantovano, Italy with Francesco Cremonesi, PR & Marketing Manager, BYD Italy, highlighting the numerous and varied aspects of the company, established in 1996 and now employing 600,000 people and is involved in manufacturing electric cars, vans, trucks and buses, batteries, semi-conductors and solar panels.

During his presentation at the Workshop section of the two day event, Francesco premiered the new all-electric BYD Seal, its curvy 4-door saloon, destined for Italian showrooms. He began with a an interesting and related topic: “What is design?” In reply, he said: “It’s an integrated of technology and emotion”. “It covers beauty and nature in all forms integrating the propulsion of same.”

No more so than with the new Seal, which gets its design inspiration from the ocean, tide and waves.

He also included sport and in its many variations in that theme, talking in a range of shapes and sizes of those involved, for example the tall basketball player, the strong weightlifter, the delicacy of a ballerina, to the speed of the sprint athlete, coincidentally all car customers with different requirements.

Francesco illustrated BYD’s Style Manager Wolfgang Egger’s creativity with the Seal, with its tear drop shape. Along with the Dolphin supermini, the Seal is from BYD’s ‘Ocean’ series featuring its distinctive ‘Ocean Aesthetics’ design language, with an X-shaped front end that exudes sportiness and style. Wolfgang is well known to Alfa Romeo enthusiasts as the former chief designer for the Italian brand.

“The striking BYD SEAL is a sporty and dynamic D-segment sedan, the second in the BYD Ocean series, using BYD’s new ‘Ocean Aesthetics’ design language. It combines a sleek and athletic appearance with a high level of comfort and practicality for five occupants, an outstanding range of equipment, and dimensions that perfectly match the needs of European car buyers. Beyond that, the BYD SEAL features several technological firsts, resulting in countless benefits clearly distinguishing it from its competitors. The  spacious interior is packed with technology with high-quality materials for a refined finish.”

Passengers can also count on plenty of light in the interior thanks to an oversized panoramic sunroof. And for optimum comfort, the front doors are fitted with double layered laminated glass for excellent sound and heat insulation.

The model line-up consists of two powertrain variants, two trim levels, six body colours and two interior trim colours.
