Fleet Car Awards 2020 selects deserving winners from a crowded field 

Audi, BMW, Kia, Mitsubishi, Peugeot and Toyota emerged victorious at the conclusion of the 2020 Fleet Car Awards programme in association with the Health & Safety Authority (HSA).

Now in their ninth year, the Fleet Car Awards are well established and much sought after accolades that recognises the best and most relevant cars on sale for corporate and fleet buyers in Ireland today.

Open to all suitable vehicles for business and fleet customers, the cars are assessed across different categories for their fleet suitability, the selection of models and specifications offered and the brands’ approach to dealing with corporate business, as well as features such as styling, driving dynamics, practicality, pricing and health and safety.

Cathal Doyle, Deputy Editor, Fleet Car magazine, explained that a total of 175 cars were considered by the judging panel for the Fleet Car Awards 2020, ranging from entry level compact hatchbacks and saloons to top-of-the-range executive and luxury cars, as well as the latest and finest offerings in the ever more important and relevant plug-in hybrid and electric vehicle categories. On behalf of the organising team at Fleet Publications, Cathal thanked the title sponsor, the Health & Safety Authority, the adjudication panel and the car brand distributors for their support in marking the ninth year of the national awards that honour the business end of the sector.

Assessed by a team of experienced motoring journalists across five categories, the successful contenders were as follows:-

  • Fleet Car of the Year 2020 – C-Segment: Toyota Corolla
  • Fleet Car of the Year 2020 – D-Segment: BMW 3-Series
  • Fleet Car of the Year 2020 – Premium / Executive: Audi A6
  • Fleet Car of the Year – Green Fleet – Electric: Kia e-Soul
  • Fleet Car of the Year 2020 – Green Fleet – Plug-in Hybrid: Joint winners; Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV & Peugeot 508 Hybrid.

Peugeot also claimed a second award, winning the Fleet Brand Supplier of the Year 2020 accolade. A new award for this year, it honours the brand seen to be leading the way in building relationships and supporting fleet and corporate customers both at distributor and dealership levels.
