Later this month, the Honda Civic Tourer will arrive in Ireland and set to shake-up the Estate Car Sector with class-leading load space, class-leading fuel-efficiency, class-leading equipment, and class-leading style!
Designed and engineered in Europe, the space inside the Tourer defies its dimensions. Despite being the lowest and most compact estate in the segment and being just 235mm longer than the Civic hatchback, the new Tourer offers a class-leading 624 litres of boot space (up to the tonneau cover with rear seats up), not only the best in the class, but one of the best of any Estate car on the market. Utilising Honda’s unique Magic Seat system, the rear seats can be folded down to create a completely flat load area with 1668 litres of capacity up to the roof lining, or flipped up to reveal a unique space for carrying taller items.
The significant luggage space is cleverly supported by the Tourer’s newly developed rear Adaptive Damper System (ADS), a world first. The clever system automatically adjusts the rear suspension damping force designed to enhance stability and comfort under the varying load and driving conditions.
Another first is the option to add Honda’s new Dynamic Safety Pack suite of safety technologies. Based on the philosophy of ‘Safety for Everyone’, this new suite of sensor-based active safety systems uses a combination of cameras, short range lidar (laser radar) and radar, to deliver a high standard of safety in all conditions, giving drivers and passengers complete peace of mind.
– City-Brake Active System, specifically designed to help avoid or mitigate low speed accidents
– Forward Collision Warning, which detects the risk of collision by recognising the vehicle directly in front
– High Beam Support System
– Lane Departure Warning
– Traffic Sign Recognition System
– Blind Spot Information
– Cross Traffic Monitor
The Tourer is the latest model to benefit from Honda’s ‘Earth Dreams Technology’ series of advanced engines with the new 1.6 i-DTEC. The lightest engine of its type in the world, it offers class-leading fuel economy figures, consuming 3.8 litres of fuel for every 100 kilometres driven, the equivalent of 74.3mpg. This efficiency is matched to low CO2 emissions, with a class-leading 99g/km meaning annual road tax from €180. In addition, the Tourer will be available with the 1.8 i-VTEC petrol engine, in manual and automatic transmission choices.
Standard equipment levels in the Civic Tourer are the best in class, with Comfort models featuring Climate Control, Bluetooth, Alloy Wheels, Idle Stop, Premium Audio System with DAB, Roof Rails, Alarm, Electric Windows, Front Centre Armrest, and LED daytime running lights. Sport models add Front and Rear Parking Sensors, Reversing Camera, Cruise Control with Speed Limiter, Front Fog Lights, Automatic Lights, Automatic Wipers, Electrically Folding Mirrors and Dual-zone Climate Control. Topping the range is the Executive, which features Full Leather Upholstery, DVD Satellite Navigation, 6.5” Touchscreen, Heated Front Seats, Privacy Glass and Adaptive Damper System.
Adrian Cole, Managing Director of Universal Honda Ltd. commented, ‘The New Civic Tourer is a unique car, in that the sleek and compact exterior hides an interior that is one of the most spacious of any Estate car on the market, indeed the load volume is actually bigger than that of a Volvo V70. Match this style and space to our new Earth Dreams Technology engines and Civic Tourer is also one of the most economical Estate cars on the road. We are delighted to bring this model to the Irish motorist as an alternative to the Hyundai i40 Tourer, Skoda Octavia Combi and Ford Focus Estate.’
Pricing for the Honda Civic Tourer will be announced at the time of launch in February, when cars will arrive at Honda Dealerships nationwide.
