Enterprise Holdings, the world’s largest vehicle rental business, has announced that Belfast-native Brendan Grieve has been appointed as Vice President and General Manager of Enterprise Rent-A-Car Ireland.

Brendan will be responsible for managing the company’s range of business activities in Ireland including setting its strategic direction, identifying new business opportunities and steering Enterprise through the current challenges presented by the global health crisis.

He began his Enterprise career in 2001 as a Management Trainee in Dublin, where he learned the business from the ground up. Since then, Brendan has held senior management, sales and business strategy roles across Ireland, Northern Ireland and Great Britain. A graduate of Queen’s University Belfast, Brendan is a keen fan of Antrim GAA.

Prior to his promotion, Brendan was based at the company’s European headquarters in Egham, Surrey, where he was Assistant Vice President of Rental for the UK and Ireland.

Commenting on his new role, Brendan said: “I am really excited about returning to Dublin, where I started my Enterprise journey, to manage our Irish operations. It is certainly a challenging time. We’ve had to transform the way we operate and introduce measures to promote in-branch social distancing. Like many businesses, we have been hit hard by restrictions aimed at curbing the spread of the virus. This has been particularly stark at our airport operations which are so reliant on international travel and tourism.”

“However, even in this challenging environment, there have been opportunities. We have seen record demand for van rental as the home delivery sector has grown. Another result of the crisis has been for consumers to favour the car over other forms of transportation – hygiene is on everyone’s minds. This is why we launched our Complete Clean Pledge, which is a rigorous sanitising procedure that’s performed on every vehicle before it is provided to a customer.”

“I look forward to navigating the business through this tough time as we look to get our operations back on track over the coming months.”

Brendan takes over from George O’Connor who helped establish Enterprise Rent-A-Car’s operations in Ireland back in 1997 and served as Managing Director of the company here since 2007. George has taken on a new role within the business as Vice President of Sales and Business Development Europe and will be based at Enterprise’s European Headquarters in Egham, Surrey.
