Suzuki Swace goes on sale in Ireland

Sharing is caring!

Suzuki is about to launch a new model in Ireland, but you can be forgiven if you think it looks rather familiar.

The Swace estate car is a badge-engineered version of the Toyota Corolla Touring Sports. It is set to arrive here next month with a price tag of €30,995.

Largely identical to its Toyota close relative – only the front bumper and grille are styled differently, the Swace will be offered as a single spec model – the SZ-T – and comes with the same 122HP 1.8 litre Hybrid engine and CVT transmission as that in the Corolla. WLTP combined fuel consumption is quoted at 4.4 l/100km, while CO2 emissions are 103g/km meaning a road tax banding of €190 per year.

Equipment wise it comes decently specified, with Dual Zone automatic air conditioning, seven-inch LCD colour screen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto device connectivity, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, rear parking camera and Dynamic Radar cruise control.

The price tag of €30,995 is higher than that of the entry Luna grade of the Toyota at €29,025, though the Suzuki does appear to be slightly better specced – for instance you have to go up to the €33,605 Sol trim in the Corolla Touring Sports to get heated front seats.

The Touring Sports model is a relatively niche seller in Ireland compared to its hatchback and saloon siblings, so the new Suzuki Swace is unlikely to be challenging the ‘most popular’ lists any time soon. That said, it broadens the range of models on offer from the likeable Japanese brand, while also, as an efficient hybrid, helping to bring down the company’s overall emissions.
