Audi Ireland is delighted to appoint Mainway Ltd., a subsidiary of JDM Automotive, to take up a key position in the Audi dealer network, trading as Audi North Dublin.
Dublin is the biggest car market in Ireland, representing approximately 40% of national sales. Within the prestige brands, Dublin represents approximately 50% of total national sales. In 2008, Audi had a 30% share of this Dublin prestige volume, at 2,200 units. This percentage share has grown even further in 2009, as Audi total market share has grown to 4.2% for the year to date, compared with the 3.8% share for 2008.
“The appointment of key Audi exclusive partners is vital to our long term strategy to become the number one prestige brand in Ireland” said Fintan Knight, Managing Director for Audi Ireland. “Especially in challenging economic times, it is important that we invest to secure and expand our loyal customer base and we are very happy to have found a like-minded partner”.
Gavin Hydes, Group Managing Director of JDM Automotive, said “I am delighted to announce that as part of our strategic objective, we have been awarded the Audi franchise for North Dublin. I am very proud that the company has been chosen to represent Audi”.
“We intend to begin development of a new Audi terminal style facility next year, which will be the first in the Irish market. The projected launch date of the completed new dealership will be March 2011. Trading will commence in October 2009 from a temporary facility. This new operation for our group is expected to create up to sixty jobs over a two year period”.
“With such a prestigious model range which is destined for further expansion, it is an exciting time for us to be asked to represent the Audi brand. Whilst the economic climate is very challenging, we believe that the opportunity to represent such a premium franchise is excellent news for our growing group”.
