Leading hire website Carrentals.co.uk advises contacting hire company for

information on cancellations and pick up delays

16 April 2010 – With the Icelandic volcanic ashcontinuing to make life

difficult for travellers and leave them stranded and unable to pick up

rental cars, leading car hire website Carrentals.co.uk is advising them to

call hire companies for help with cancellations and pick up delays.

Gareth Robinson, Managing Director of Carrentals.co.uk, says: “With no

formal news in place about when the situation in Iceland might improve,

many people are finding that they can be stranded on holiday and not able

to pick up their rental car and get to their resorts.”

“We’ve heard from lots of people about the problems they’re having so

we’re recommending that they call up their hire provider to find out the

latest information about cancellations and delayed pick up policies.”

As things show sign of improving with the volcanic ash outpouring in

Iceland, tourists and holidaymakers overseas are likely to go on having

problems with their car rentals.

Dinesh Kanji, Business Development Manager of Auto Europe UK, said: “Our

call centre staff have reported a lot of people calling up to find out what

the latest news is about Iceland how it affects them, and as such we are

giving out free cancellations on bookings which are affected by ash and

cancelled flights. In addition we are also helping people with lowered

rates on extended rentals caused by the volcano situation.

Carrentals.co.uk compares car hire deals from up to 50 rental companies,

including Alamo, Auto Europe, Budget, easyCar, Holiday Autos and Sixt, in

over 9,000 locations worldwide.
