Kathleen Ahern, from Co. Cork, was the proud winner of the Fighting Blindness monthly draw in June and was presented with the keys to a brand new Peugeot 107 SE 5 door at Grandon Car Sales, Glanmire, Co. Cork.
Fighting Blindness is an Irish charity funding world-leading research into cures for blindness. Their research will help an estimated 65,000 Irish adults and children and 40 million people worldwide affected by degenerative eye conditions. The organisation was started by a group of Irish patients 27 years ago and is now a global leader in the field, pushing the frontiers of science with its work. The charity also provides a unique professional counselling service for people with visual impairments and their families.
A significant amount of funding for the charity comes from generous individuals that join the Fighting Blindness non-stop Private Members Draw. Currently there are 6,000 members across the country that are entered into a draw to win 12 monthly prizes to include holiday vouchers, cash sums and two car spot prizes – two Peugeot 107s to the value of €12,000.
On receiving her keys, Kathleen said, “I’ve never won anything in my life and couldn’t believe when Fighting Blindness rang to tell me I’d won a brand new Peugeot car. I’m simply thrilled.”
Avril Daly, General Manager of Fighting Blindness, said, “We are very grateful to Peugeot for supporting our draw and providing two generous prizes. It is always exciting to give something back to the members of our draw that contribute so much and make our work possible.”
