Get in Gear for the Cannon Ball Run!

The launch party for the first ever Cannon Ball Run to be held in Ireland, took place on Wednesday 15th July, in Residence, Private Members Club.  This fantastic event will take place from September 11th – 13th in aid of Barretstown.

Traffic in St Stephens Green, screeched to a halt as model Julie Divine adorned a selection of sports cars including Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Mercedes AMG and Porche which will ultimately travel in convoy with a Garda escort, through Ireland for this exciting three day event.

A host of familiar faces from Dublin’s social scene showed their support for Barretstown such as TV’s Anna Daly, Sinead Desmond and Husband Dave Ryan, Amanda Brunker, Anne Doyle and Dan McGrattan, Gerald Kean and Lisa Murphy and Michael O’Doherty.

The Cannonball Run will take place over three days, starting outside Residence on St Stephen’s Green with the 1st pit stop giving the car enthusiasts a quick tour of Barretstown, so participants can see the joy that their money brings to the children who benefit from this worthy cause.   Then it’s onto Kinsale for a well deserved lunch and final destination for Day 1 takes us on the winding roads to Killarney.
Day 2 takes us up the coast roads of Kerry and Limerick onto Killaloe, where a lunch pit stop is organized.  Then it’s over to Moran’s on the Weir in Galway where our ‘sky bound’ Cannonballers join us.  Final stage for Day 2 takes us to the buzzing city of Galway where the weary Cannon Ballers will party the night away.
Day 3 has a late start and people make their way back to Dublin having successfully raised a considerable amount of funding, ensuring the smiles are kept on the kids faces in Barretstown.

So pump up your tyres and rev up for the first ever Cannon Ball Run to take place in Ireland. Registrations and further information can be obtained on www.cannonball.ie

The site has grown to offer a first-class facility for seriously ill children with an excellent medical centre and a unique therapeutic programme backed by the medical community.

All of the children and families have come to Barretstown free of charge. The families don’t pay a cent. Everything, including accommodation, food, medical assistance and round-trip airfares are provided. Barretstown has to raise over €4.5 million each year to fund its programmes; 96% of this money comes from companies and individual donations from Ireland and abroad.
