A star-studded cast of Formula 1 drivers – including 2008 World Champion Lewis Hamilton – will headline the first-ever Powered by Mercedes-Benz Live event at Mercedes-Benz World, Surrey on 8 November.
Powered by Mercedes-Benz Live will offer fans the chance to meet Lewis Hamilton, his team-mate Heikki Kovalainen, double World Champion Mika Häkkinen, David Coulthard and Formula 1 team boss Ross Brawn. Formula 1 drivers Pedro de la Rosa and Anthony Davidson, as well as a host of Mercedes-Benz Touring car and Formula 3 drivers, will also be in attendance.
The whole event, held at the legendary Brookland circuit – home of Mercedes-Benz World – will be open free to the public.
Highlights of the day include Lewis driving his MP4-23 – the car in which he memorably won the 2008 Formula 1 Drivers’ World Championship. Ross Brawn will also be on hand to showcase his team’s groundbreaking debut Brawn Mercedes BGP 001, driven by Radio 5 Live commentator and Brawn GP test driver, Anthony Davidson.
The British DTM drivers Susie Stoddart, Jamie Green, Paul Di Resta and Gary Paffett will attend and demonstrate what makes this touring car series one of the most exciting in the world, with their 500hp V8 AMG Mercedes C-Classes pounding around the circuit at Mercedes-Benz World. Like all the drivers in attendance, they will sign autographs and spend as much time with fans as possible.
Formula 3 Euro Series hotshot Sam Bird returns to Brooklands to demonstrate his Dallara Mercedes, and in the coming weeks even more will be added to an action-packed line-up.
There is even the chance for event visitors to take part in driving activities themselves, with a selection of events that offer something for all ages – even children over 1.5 metres tall – thanks to the Mercedes-Benz Driving Academy. Activities include hot laps in the Mercedes AMGs, Off-Road 4×4 passenger rides, the trust-building Blindfold Driving Challenge and a fun smart fortwo Egg & Spoon Challenge.
Wilfried Steffen, President and CEO Mercedes-Benz UK commented: “After a thrilling racing season this year, we want to say a big thank you to our loyal customers and fans – and a free Grand Prix event is the perfect way to do that. We look forward to providing our customers, our fans and their families free entry to the historic Brooklands circuit.”

Mercedes-Benz World
Mercedes-Benz World is a brand experience centre – and the word ‘experience’ is not used lightly. At this impressive attraction, visitors will find simulator rides, interactive challenges, enthralling exhibits and, most excitingly – the opportunity to take any one of the Mercedes-Benz car models around 2.5km of handling circuits. For off-road fans this extends to a 10 acre off-road terrain course complete with deep muddy water and steep slippery slopes.
Of course, for those with a passion for cars there’s the opportunity to see, touch and feel every current Mercedes-Benz model, which are joined by a host of beloved classics. Fascinating stories give visitors the chance to appreciate the inspirational events that have linked Mercedes-Benz with Brooklands.
To recharge the batteries there’s a choice of a bistro style café or the gourmet Gullwing restaurant, using ingredients supplied by 1979 F1 World Champion Jody Scheckter’s biodynamic and organic Laverstoke Park Farm. Of course, no visitor attraction would be complete without somewhere to shop. The Mercedes-Benz Boutique will offer souvenirs for the kids through to a range of luxurious personal goods.
Mercedes-Benz World is open every day from 10am to 6pm, seven days a week (except Christmas Day and Boxing Day). For more information visit www.mercedes-benzworld.co.uk
