NEW SKODA OCTAVIA 1.6TDI CR ACHIEVES BAND-A ROAD TAX

Skoda’s best selling Octavia model has built its reputation on an excellent Diesel engine offering from the popular 1.9TDI to the powerful 2.0 TDI producing 170 bhp that appears in the sporty Octavia RS.

Now Skoda has added its most efficient Diesel engine yet. Extremely quiet, this new turbo charged 4-cylinder engine has a capacity of 1,598cc and uses 4-valve per cylinder technology combined with a new common rail injection system with high pressure injection to deliver 105bhp @ 4,400 rpm. This 1.6TDI CR unit is also available with the latest generation 7-speed DSG automatic transmission.

Complying with the latest EU5 emission regulations this new 1.6TDI CR produces just 119g/km of CO2 resulting in “Band-A” annual road tax of just €104. Achieving the lowest possible road tax band and with combined fuel consumption of just 4.5l/100km (63mpg) is sure to be a big sway for Irish buyers in 2010.

Not only is the new Octavia 1.6TDI CR kinder to the environment by reducing emissions, it also possesses a DPF (Diesel Particle Filter) that filters harmful carcinogenic particles (95% reduction) that would otherwise be expelled in the exhaust emissions.

Benefitting from a significant increase in specification that applies across the 2010 Skoda model range, the new Octavia 1.6TDI CR in Classic specification has a recommended retail price of €19,420, in Ambiente specification for €21,025 (with multifunction leather steering wheel and Bluetooth phone compatibility now standard) and in Elegance specification for €22,405 (now with 6CD Bolero radio with touch screen technology). The Octavia 1.6TDI CR 7-speed DSG Classic retails for €22,295 (all prices exclude delivery and related charges).
