West Midlands Motorsport is delighted to announce that they have acquired a Mitsubishi Evo 9 for Owen Murphy to use in next year’s Evo Challenge and the British Rally Championship. However for local rally fans there is a chance to see Owen in the Ex-Works car on the up coming Cork 20 International which will take place on the twisty and high speed roads of Co Cork and is based at the Rochestown Park hotel. Owen will be co driven by the former Tarmac Champion, the vastly experienced James o Brien a fellow Cork Motor Club member.
Owen at 22 had some good steady finishes in this years UK Evo Challenge but at the sharp end every second counts and this car should put Owen back on an equal footing with the competition. The new car is a return to left hand drive for the young man from Ballincollig (Cork) his last outing in a leftie was when he had the Fiesta on the UK Fiesta Sporting Trophy Championship when he won the first round of that series.Owen said I am hoping for a good run on the Cork 20 I have the car and one of the best co drivers in Ireland James o Brien driving on the left does not bother me but on the tight stuff after being back on the right for a while I must be that bit careful,I am really looking forward to the rally cannot wait.
Owen is supported by Hankook Tyres, O’ Flynn Construction , Nyhan Motors, O’ Brien Crowley,Walsh Printers, Carbon Lorraine, Murray Motorsport.
