The SIMI (Society of the Irish Motor Industry) today (Tuesday, 26th January 2010) launched its used car website is the only used car website in Ireland where every single car advertised is sold by an SIMI dealer, has been put through a full history check and has warranty information, as standard.

Speaking at the launch of the website, SIMI Director General Alan Nolan said, “We have long been aware of the real concerns of consumers when it comes to buying a used car which is one of the biggest investments for most people.  When buying a used car, the best advice to consumers has always been to know who you are buying from and to know as much as you can about the car you are intending to buy.  In developing we have sought to provide real reassurance to consumers on both of these points. All dealers selling on the site are SIMI members who have signed up to the required code of practice and every car is history checked before it appears on the website. With, you can be sure of both the dealer and the car.”

Every SIMI dealer advertising on the site has signed up to an SIMI Code of Ethics which ensures that every customer gets the highest level of service when purchasing their used car.

About the Car History Check:
Every car advertised has been checked against official sources which will determine if the car has ever been reported as:

·         Written off in Ireland
Written off in the UK
Scrapped in the UK
Stolen in the UK
If the car has been:
Ever registered as a Taxi or Hackney
Customers can also ask their dealer for the official Car History Check Certificate.
